Hi!! I'm Devon. As a hobbyist (formerly known in the rpgmaker scene as Legion, Max McGee, Stormcrow/Crowstorm, and TheGentlemanLoser, among other aliases) I've been making RPG and horror games with RPG Maker since the actual 20th century.
In spite of 23+ years of experience and several notable and celebrated free releases, I have yet to release one commercially. Backstage: murdered sleep, in development since Fall of 2021 and currently almost complete and in early access alpha testing, is still slated to be my first official commercial game release.
Over the last few months, I have also learned (and fallen in love with) Godot 4. Nine, a cyberpunk catformer, is my first ever Godot game. This version was made in about 19 days for the BigMode GameJam.
Warning: I'm going to transition now from talking about myself in the first person to talking about myself in the third person!
Over on the analog (non-vidya) side of RPG gaming, Devon Oratz is the ENnie-award nominated creator of the TTRPGs Anathema, Psionics, SPLINTER, The Singularity System, Systems Malfunction, and more. From 2012 to 2017, Devon co-founded and then co-managed End Transmission Games, which published the SPLINTER and Psionics: The Next Stage in Human Evolution game lines, the DicePunk and The Singularity System rule systems and a few other amazing games. Two ENnie nominations (Phantasm(2010) in 2013, Epic Space Battles in 2015) and a Ronnie (Anathema) made it on our list of “Cool Things We Did!” before we went the way of the Dodo.
After ETG went extinct (my old games are available here in PDF real cheap) and Devon along with it, Invisible Inc. Publishing is the spooky spectre of a startup his ghost began some years after the demise of his mortal form. This account and premise is an ongoing (for the moment) experiment in merging my pen and paper and vidya games output in one destination for the first time ever.
